Joyce Afeke has been a key contributor in numerous educational programs and initiatives at Kwadaso Agricultural College. Her academic specialties include food safety standards and animal feed formulations – an important agricultural sector as the demand for meat products continues to grow quickly in Ghana.

Joyce’s leadership at the College is helping bring students closer to farmers in rural communities. An instrumental contributor to the reorganization of the Internal Attachment program, Joyce helped to introduce a community placement component into the curriculum so that students – many of whom had never stayed in rural communities before – are able to better understand the challenges of small-scale farmers and rural village communities. Joyce is also involved in other initiatives to improve the quality of learning at Kwadaso Agricultural College. Apart from championing gender sensitivity on campus, Joyce is also helping source funding to train local poultry farmers to reduce their costs of production, and will be taking over as Chair of the Innovation Committee – one of the only spaces available for lecturers to come together, discuss new initiatives, and turn ideas into action.
