BDSA Zambia
Venture Leader
Lusaka (Zambia)
Diana is the venture leader of BDSA Zambia; a social enterprise that works with medium to large agribusinesses to improve business practices that concern smallholder farmers and reduce rural poverty. Medium-to-Large African agricultural businesses purchase 80% of their crop from smallholder farmers and as such are poised for impact within that market. BDSA wants to build the capacity of these enterprises such that they can test and iterate on interventions that can improve the business-to-farmer relationship, essentially ensuring the bottom line of the enterprise by alleviating poverty in the communities it depends on. BDSA believes that shared value processes and innovative ideas can be developed to suit a company’s operations and business innovation goals while developing a self-reliant and sustainable form of poverty reduction in Sub-Saharan Africa for smallholder farmers and their communities. Prior to working with BDSA Diana worked with EWB Canada and started a social enterprise as a participant in the Queen’s Innovation Connector. She completed a Bachelor of Science and Engineering from Queen’s University in 2012 where she was also a member of the EWB Chapter. When she is not working she can be commonly found eating brunch, bicycling between cities in Canada, camping all over and generally laughing at anything amusing.
