Erin Aylward is an international development practitioner & researcher who specializes in gender and sexuality. Drawing on her experiences in working with and learning from women's rights organizations in Nicaragua and Panama, she created, funded, and filled the position of “Gender Advisor” within EWB from 2012-2013. She also worked as Oxfam Canada’s Youth and Campus Outreach Officer, connecting 28 campus groups across Canada to Oxfam’s mission, campaigns, and women’s rights focus, and has worked with the international collaborative, Gender at Work. Currently, as a 2015 Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Scholar and PhD student at the University of Toronto, she is studying transnational LGBTI advocacy work. Erin completed her M.A. in International Development at the University of Ottawa, and holds a B.A. in Political Science and in Spanish from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
